The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Officer to join their team in Abu Dhabi. This full-time, on-site position supports the CMS Dugong MOU Secretariat, as part of a major international conservation project. The role involves managing project activities related to the conservation of seagrass meadows and biodiversity in five target countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.
Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate the implementation of the Dugong MOU’s IKI-funded project focused on ecosystem services and conservation efforts.

Support integration of seagrass ecosystem services into national policy frameworks and sustainable business models.

Liaise with country partners, stakeholders, and institutions to ensure smooth project operations and impact delivery.

Draft reports, manage documentation, monitor progress, and evaluate project outcomes.

Represent the CMS Dugong MOU Secretariat at meetings and coordinate communication strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental management, development, international relations, or related fields. A first-level university degree with additional experience may be accepted.

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, ideally in an international context or conservation-focused environment.

Experience working with intergovernmental or UN institutions is desirable.

Proven ability to manage cross-border partnerships and coordinate with diverse stakeholders.

Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
