Canonical is looking for a Product Manager – Networking to lead product development and go-to-market strategies in the Smart NIC and ToR switches sector. This role requires a combination of leadership, technical vision, and market insight to guide the development of Ubuntu Core and related products. The ideal candidate will drive the product strategy, shape the development roadmap, and engage with the ecosystem to ensure the commercial success of Canonical’s networking products.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the product development lifecycle for Smart NIC and ToR switches products

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing, and sales) to align on priorities and ensure successful product execution

Conduct market research, analyse industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify market opportunities

Develop go-to-market strategies, create product documentation, and provide training for sales and support teams

Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from conception to market launch, ensuring alignment with market demands

Drive product vision and ensure informed decision-making across teams

Contribute to the success of the sales team by participating in customer meetings and reviewing customer feedback
Key Qualifications:
-
Strong academic results in high school and university
-
Deep understanding of Linux and the open-source community
-
Passion for writing about technologies and the tech landscape
-
Experience in product management within the software industry (preferred for senior positions)

Strong knowledge of hyperscale data centre architecture, network protocols, and Smart NIC/ToR switch software
-
Familiarity with Linux networking distributions (e.g., SONiC, DENT, FRRouting)

Practical experience with large-scale network design and operation

Strong communication skills in English (both verbal and written)

Willingness to travel internationally (up to 4 times a year)
Nice-to-Have Skills:

Familiarity with Telco, Finance, Industrial, or Automotive verticals

Knowledge of cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker)

Familiarity with embedded and connected device technology
