Join MAT Filtration Technologies as a Process Design Engineer – Contribute to Sustainable Water Treatment & Life Support System Designs

MAT Filtration Technologies, a leader in advanced water treatment and aquatic life support solutions, is looking for a Process Design Engineer to join their team in Dubai. This role is ideal for experienced engineers with a strong foundation in life support systems (LSS), water/wastewater treatment, and process design. The engineer will be involved in the full project lifecycle—from concept design and hydraulic calculations to system integration and on-site commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
Design & Documentation

• Develop detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and layout drawings for LSS and water/wastewater systems

• Prepare comprehensive engineering documents including design reports, equipment specifications, and control logic

• Optimize process designs through simulations and performance analysis

Technical Calculations

• Conduct hydraulic calculations for pumps, valves, piping systems, and other components

• Estimate thermal loads and perform energy balance assessments

• Execute mass and energy balances for various treatment processes

System Integration

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams for fully integrated systems

• Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, and construction stakeholders during project execution

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all designs meet international/local codes, environmental standards, and client specifications

• Support field commissioning and troubleshooting, both on-site and remotely

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering

Experience (3–8 years):

• In process design of systems such as:

  • Public aquariums, marine exhibits, and life support systems

  • Water/wastewater treatment (e.g., RO, UF, filtration, disinfection)

  • Swimming pool filtration or industrial reuse applications

Technical Expertise:

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, and simulation tools (e.g., PipeFlow Expert)

• Familiar with PLC, SCADA control systems and integration

• Strong understanding of water chemistry and biological filtration

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment

Desirable Extras:

• Experience with BIM and Revit for 3D layout and piping design

• Prior work on large-scale aquarium, zoo, or advanced reuse infrastructure projects
