Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), one of the UAE’s premier healthcare institutions, is seeking a Patient Access Officer for its Longevity Clinic – Admin department. This full-time, on-site role is crucial to ensuring a seamless patient journey through the effective scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and overall coordination of patient access services.
The Patient Access Officer will serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, requiring a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role also involves ensuring accuracy in registration data, monitoring clinic operations, and contributing to departmental performance targets and quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Professionally interact with patients and families, considering cultural sensitivities and diverse backgrounds.

Supervise and ensure sufficient staffing at the reception and call center; delegate tasks based on operational needs.

Oversee accurate patient registration, billing, and insurance-related processes by access representatives.

Assist with verifying insurance eligibility and pre-authorization as needed.

Ensure correct and complete documentation is maintained in the Health Information System (HIS).

Monitor and manage clinic service availability, identifying operational improvement opportunities.

Maintain effective communication and collaboration with other departments.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and use relevant tools to support departmental goals.

Address and resolve patient/family complaints and inquiries professionally.

Willingness to work rotating shifts to support a 24/7 operational environment.
Accountabilities:

Respond promptly to internal and external requests in line with SSMC protocols.

Complete investigations of complaints within established timelines.

Maintain clinic appointment fill rates according to performance targets.

Contribute to achieving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the assigned areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:

2–4 years of relevant administrative or patient access experience.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
Desired:

Experience working in a large healthcare facility.
Skills Required:

Knowledge of hospital administrative systems and insurance processes.
