Medical Scribe – Health Information Management
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City – SSMC Abu Dhabi , UAE

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is seeking a Medical Scribe to support physicians in accurately documenting patient interactions in real time. This on-site, full-time role involves transcribing medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards, and supporting efficient clinical workflows. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical terminology, excellent typing skills, and experience in healthcare documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accompany physicians during patient visits to document interactions directly into electronic health records (EHR).

  • Prepare and assemble medical record documentation before and after patient encounters.

  • Accurately transcribe patient histories, procedures, lab results, and physician observations.

  • Ensure accuracy of medical reports including discharge summaries, operative reports, pathology reports, and consultation notes.

  • Translate medical abbreviations and slang into correct terminology.

  • Verify patient information for completeness and eliminate duplicate records.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing units, and ancillary departments to clarify unclear or incomplete information.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital, legal, and accreditation regulations (HIPAA, DOH).

  • Maintain productivity logs and ensure quality monitoring of transcription work.

  • Participate in team efforts and provide technical expertise as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or a related field; Diploma with 3+ years of experience acceptable.

  • 2–4 years of medical transcription experience in an acute care hospital or similar setting.

  • Certification as a Medical Transcriptionist is desirable.

  • Proficiency in EHR systems and medical recording software.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, diagnoses, and procedures.

  • Fast and accurate typing skills (60–80 WPM).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.

  • Attention to detail, discretion, and ability to work under pressure in clinical environments.

  • Adaptability to different providers, specialties, and clinical settings.
