Role Overview:

As a Librarian at GEMS Education, you will manage and oversee the school library while inspiring students to develop a lifelong love for reading and learning. You’ll curate a welcoming and well-organized library environment, support students and teachers in finding relevant materials, and foster literacy across all age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote reading and literacy by helping students find books that suit their reading levels and interests.

• Assist staff and students in sourcing materials for study and projects.

• Manage the borrowing system, including record keeping and follow-up on unreturned books.

• Create and maintain reading lists tailored to different age levels.

• Coordinate with Heads of Department to select, order, and renew books and periodicals.

• Handle book repair, withdrawal of outdated materials, and catalog maintenance.

• Manage audiovisual resources and ensure easy access for staff and students.

• Maintain an inviting, organized, and well-lit library space that supports learning.

• Ensure adherence to GEMS Education’s policies, procedures, and core values at all times.

• Show initiative and flexibility, contributing beyond the regular workday when required.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage with students and staff.

• Creative and enthusiastic about promoting reading and literacy.

• Proficient in using digital and audiovisual library tools.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare (police clearance required).
