CERT – The Centre of Excellence for Applied Research & Training is seeking a Librarian to manage and support the daily operations of its Library and Independent Learning Center (ILC). This role plays a vital part in supporting the teaching and learning objectives of the college by providing essential library and learning services to both students and faculty.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in academic library management, excellent customer service skills, and strong technological proficiency. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Al Ain.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage circulation of library materials, including loans, overdues, and recalls.

Support students and faculty in using library and ILC services, including orientations and technical guidance.

Maintain accurate library classification and shelving systems.

Assist in developing the library collection through research, data entry, and bibliographic work.

Ensure policies and procedures are followed to maintain a conducive learning environment.

Collaborate with IT specialists to manage software installations and ensure all equipment functions properly.

Contribute to library promotions and website updates.

Track inventory of library supplies and produce regular reports and statistics.

Participate in continuous professional development and HCT initiatives, including extracurricular and community engagement.
Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.

EFL teaching qualification is desirable.
Skills & Experience:
-
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in an educational setting.

Previous experience working in a library, ILC, or self-access center.

Strong customer service orientation and organizational skills.

High computer literacy and familiarity with integrated library systems and learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard).

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and manage pressure.

Strong English communication skills (spoken and written); Arabic knowledge is a plus.

Familiarity with mobile technology (e.g., tablets) and relevant software tools is preferred.
