Damen Shipyards Group, a leading Dutch family-owned shipbuilding and maritime services company, is hiring a Legal & Compliance Officer for its Middle East Shared Services division in Abu Dhabi. With a legacy dating back to 1927, Damen operates across 34 shipbuilding and repair yards and employs 10,000+ professionals globally.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the execution of Damen’s Compliance Program in the Middle East, contributing to a culture of ethics and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in ADGM and UAE laws, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and be comfortable working within a multi-lingual international environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the implementation of the regional compliance strategy

Conduct internal control checks and manage third-party due diligence, including KYC screenings

Maintain documentation of internal reviews, compliance audits, and risk assessments

Provide legal and administrative support to the Group Compliance Team

Promote adherence to local and international laws, company policies, and ethical standards
Requirements:
-
Paralegal qualification with a minimum of 2 years of experience in legal/compliance, specifically with ADGM & UAE regulations

Proactive, independent, and persuasive communicator

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Comfortable working in a diverse, international team setting

Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus)
