Miral Experiences is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to provide comprehensive veterinary care to the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi (SWAD) animal population, which includes mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and invertebrates. The successful candidate will also support the affiliated regional marine life rescue and rehabilitation program.

This role is key to maintaining high animal welfare standards and contributing to research in marine animal health. The Laboratory Technologist will assist in veterinary laboratory procedures, such as hematology, microbiology, and water chemistry, and play an active role in research at SWAD.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with veterinary laboratory procedures for all aspects of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s animal collection (hematology, microbiology, mycology, parasitology, urinalysis, etc.).

• Compute test results, document and log data, and prepare reports for laboratory files and research projects.

• Maintain laboratory, pharmacy, surgical, radiographic, and medical equipment and supplies.

• Participate in medical care for rescued wildlife, including dugongs, sea turtles, and cetaceans.

• Prepare samples for diagnostic testing and ancillary testing.

• Educate animal colleagues, leadership teams, and occasionally guests on health, welfare, and husbandry.

• Assist with health assessments and field research for various species.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory areas.

• Work varying shifts based on business needs, including weekends and holidays.

• Perform physical tasks, such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.

Skills & Qualifications:

Essential:

• Diploma in a related field or equivalent.

• Ability to obtain a license or certification for medical laboratory technologist in the UAE.

• At least 2 years of proven experience in a hospital setting as a medical technologist.

• Excellent English communication skills and teamwork abilities.

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and technologies.

• Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Desirable:

• Experience with non-domestic, exotic animal species or in a veterinary medical setting.

• Familiarity with professional zoo/aquarium communities and non-domestic species.

• Previous experience with data entry, hematology and reproductive analyzers, and equipment maintenance.
