Position Overview

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental policies to maintain a safe and compliant working environment. The role ensures full adherence to UAE labor laws, Civil Defense regulations, local authority requirements, and international HSE standards while promoting a strong safety culture across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety Compliance

• Implement and monitor company-wide HSE policies, procedures, and safety programs.

• Ensure compliance with UAE HSE legislation, Civil Defense requirements, and municipality regulations.

• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and internal safety audits.

• Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

• Enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.

Incident Management & Reporting

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare detailed investigation reports and corrective action plans.

• Maintain accurate records of incidents, permits, inspections, and safety documentation.

• Monitor trends in safety performance and recommend improvement initiatives.

Training & Safety Awareness

• Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training programs.

• Promote employee awareness and engagement in health, safety, and environmental practices.

• Support the development of a proactive and continuous improvement-driven safety culture.

Environmental & Emergency Management

• Monitor waste disposal, chemical handling, and environmental control measures.

• Support emergency preparedness plans, fire safety procedures, and evacuation drills.

• Coordinate with external authorities, auditors, and emergency services when required.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, HR, and management teams to implement safety initiatives.

• Support compliance with ISO standards and internal audit requirements.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• NEBOSH IGC (mandatory or highly preferred in the UAE).

• Additional certifications such as IOSH, OSHA, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor are an advantage.

• Strong knowledge of UAE Labor Law, Civil Defense, and municipality HSE regulations.

• Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational skills.

• Proactive mindset with strong attention to detail and compliance.

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience as an HSE Officer in the UAE.

• Previous experience in FMCG manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or construction environments preferred.

• Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards.
