Head of Modern Trade

GMG is hiring a Head of Modern Trade to lead its sales operations across modern retail formats such as hypermarkets, supermarkets, and key retail chains. This full-time, on-site role based in Dubai is ideal for candidates with strong experience in the FMCG sector, keen business insight, and the ability to drive profitability and visibility through strategic partnerships and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Channel Strategy & Business Development:

  • Develop and execute a modern trade strategy aligned with business objectives

  • Expand into new modern retail formats and identify new business opportunities

  • Build customer-specific Joint Business Plans (JBPs) to establish long-term relationships

Key Account Management:

  • Lead negotiations with major retail chains (e.g., Carrefour, Lulu, Spinneys)

  • Maintain strong relationships with category managers

  • Ensure the implementation of Business Development Agreements (BDAs)

Sales Performance & P&L Management:

  • Own the P&L for modern trade, ensuring profitability through optimized trade investments

  • Monitor sales performance, ROI on promotions, and demand forecasts

In-store Execution & Visibility:

  • Supervise trade marketing efforts to enhance brand visibility

  • Enforce planogram compliance, increase shelf share, and manage visibility campaigns

  • Conduct monthly/quarterly business reviews with key accounts

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of Key Account Managers and Field Executives

  • Set performance KPIs and provide mentorship and coaching

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, supply chain, and finance teams

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing large retail accounts and modern trade expansion

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills

  • In-depth knowledge of trade spend optimization and in-store activation

  • Strategic sales planning and customer-focused thinking

  • Excellent leadership, commercial, and interpersonal abilities

  • Strong analytical and financial management capabilities
