Position Overview

As a Hardware Engineer in Eaton’s EMEA product development team, you will focus on electronics design and redesign for low voltage switchgear and control relays. Your role involves developing and validating robust electronic/PCBA designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEC, UL, Machinery directive), and modernizing existing products using the latest components and design tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and validate electronic hardware for switching, breaking, protection, and control devices.

• Create detailed concepts and specifications based on customer requirements and product standards.

• Plan and execute design and validation engineering tasks independently within a distributed team.

• Utilize tools such as simulation and Design For Six Sigma during the design lifecycle.

• Conduct laboratory testing, including EMC/EMI testing and troubleshooting.

• Support manufacturing during the series production ramp-up phase.

• Maintain comprehensive engineering documentation using Eaton’s systems.

• Collaborate on technical risk management, peer reviews, and project issue resolution.

• Provide expert technical support to Product Management, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in electronic hardware development and product industrialization.

• Proven analog and digital circuit design expertise.

• Experience with embedded microprocessors and electronic circuit simulation.

• Hands-on prototyping and laboratory testing skills, including power-up and EMC/EMI tests.

• Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma methodologies.

• Proficiency in hardware design tools such as Mentor, Altium, Cadence, and Spice.

• Experience with PCB design and EMS/PCB manufacturing documentation is a plus.

• Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken).
