Green Energy Consultancy, a trusted name in power infrastructure solutions, is looking for a skilled Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Commissioning Engineer for an on-site, full-time role in the UAE. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in planning, executing, and validating the commissioning of high-voltage GIS systems (132kV and above) in substations and power transmission projects. This role ensures GIS systems meet technical, safety, and operational standards before final handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Commissioning Planning:

Review engineering drawings and manufacturer documentation

Develop detailed commissioning procedures aligned with project schedules
Site Execution:
-
Supervise installation checks including SF₆ gas filling, pressure testing, and mechanical verifications

Conduct functional tests on relays, interlocks, and control circuits
-
Perform insulation, contact resistance, and high-voltage withstand tests as per IEC standards
System Integration:
-
Work with SCADA, protection, and control teams for seamless integration

Ensure connection with auxiliary systems like HVAC, earthing, and fire protection
Safety and Compliance:

Follow and enforce high-voltage safety protocols during testing and energization

Document and resolve non-conformities per QA/QC and HSE standards
Reporting and Handover:

Prepare detailed commissioning reports, test documentation, and punch lists

Support client acceptance and contribute technical expertise during project handover
Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with OEMs, contractors, and utility engineers

Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and site staff
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

Proven hands-on experience with GIS commissioning (132kV and above)

Proficient in IEC standards, SF₆ handling, and HV safety procedures

Strong troubleshooting, diagnostics, and reporting capabilities

Excellent communication and documentation skills
