A leading engineering services organization in Dubai is seeking an experienced Drawings Specialist to oversee design compliance and authority review processes. This role will act as a key technical gatekeeper, ensuring all contractor and consultant drawing submissions meet UAE regulatory standards, authority requirements, and master community guidelines prior to approval.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, in-depth knowledge of UAE building regulations, and the ability to provide clear, structured compliance feedback to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and assess technical drawing submissions for fit-out and building works.

• Evaluate designs against UAE regulations, authority requirements, and community guidelines, including:

  • Dubai Municipality Building Code

  • UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice

  • Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) regulations

  • ASHRAE standards and Empower HVAC requirements

  • Dubai Municipality Food Safety & Hygiene standards

  • Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) requirements (where applicable)

• Identify regulatory gaps, technical conflicts, and non-compliance issues in submitted drawings.

• Provide structured, detailed technical comments and compliance reports.

• Approve or reject submissions based on regulatory and design compliance.

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve design issues.

• Maintain accurate documentation of submissions, approvals, and revisions.

• Ensure consistent application of codes, standards, and internal review procedures.

• Contribute to improving design review workflows and compliance processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).

• Minimum 5 years’ UAE experience in design review, authority approvals, technical compliance, or consultancy.

• Strong working knowledge of UAE building codes and regulatory frameworks.

• Experience with Fire & Life Safety, MEP coordination, and architectural compliance.

• Proven ability to review and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

• Familiarity with fit-out regulations and authority submission procedures.
