Pearson is seeking a highly skilled Director General Attorney to oversee and manage the company’s legal affairs within the MENAT region. Reporting to the Senior Director, the role involves providing expert legal advice on a range of matters, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, and compliance. The Legal Director will support senior management, manage legal risks, and ensure Pearson’s operations align with regional regulations. Experience working in the MENAT region and a deep understanding of its legal landscape is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a trusted advisor, providing high-quality legal advice on contracts, commercial matters, corporate governance, and product launches.

• Draft, negotiate, and manage complex commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with laws and best practices.

• Monitor developments in laws and regulations, proactively advising business teams and mitigating legal risks.

• Provide specialist legal support on data privacy, disputes, intellectual property, labor law, and marketing.

• Partner with Pearson’s Global Compliance Office, acting as the Local Compliance officer for MENAT.

• Ensure alignment of corporate governance practices with regional regulations.

• Support government tenders and provide training on compliance-related topics like anti-bribery and corruption.

Qualifications:

• Law degree or equivalent legal qualification from a reputable university.

• At least 8-10 years of experience as a legal professional, with in-house counsel experience.

• Knowledge and experience in the MENAT region’s legal systems and regulations.

• Demonstrated experience in commercial arrangements, compliance, and legal advisory for senior business stakeholders.
