We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer – Protection Systems to join a leading MEP contracting company in Dubai. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for professionals with strong expertise in control and protection panel design within large-scale projects.

The role involves designing, coordinating, and delivering high-quality electrical protection systems while ensuring compliance with international standards and project requirements. The successful candidate will also contribute to value engineering, cost optimization, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for control and protection panels, including schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules
• Interpret client specifications and industry standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, ANSI) to create compliant design solutions
• Perform component selection and sizing (relays, breakers, PLCs, HMIs, power supplies, etc.)
• Design panel layouts, wiring systems, and busbars considering safety, thermal, and electrical requirements
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) and manufacturing documentation
• Use CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or ELCAD for design development
• Collaborate with sales and proposal teams during the bidding phase to provide technical inputs
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective design delivery
• Support production teams during manufacturing and resolve design-related issues
• Liaise with vendors for technical clarifications and material selection
• Participate in client meetings to discuss technical solutions
• Maintain design templates, libraries, and documentation as per ISO standards
• Drive process improvements and contribute to efficiency and quality enhancements
• Plan, schedule, and track design deliverables to meet project timelines

Requirements

Essential:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, or related field
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in protection and control panel design, switchgear, or MCC systems
• Strong knowledge of protection relays (overcurrent, differential, distance protection, etc.)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or ELCAD
• Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC 61439, IEC 60204, UL 508A, and NFPA 70
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Preferred:

• Experience with PLC, SCADA systems, and communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, DNP3)
• Knowledge of value engineering and cost optimization techniques
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Salary & Benefits
