Position: Design Compliance Inspector – MEP

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Design Compliance Inspector – MEP to review and approve mechanical and electrical design submissions for commercial and retail fit-out projects within DMCC and JLT developments.

This is a design-stage governance role focused on ensuring all MEP systems comply with DMCC master developer guidelines, Dubai Civil Defence regulations, UAE building codes, and applicable international standards before construction begins.

The position plays a critical role in maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across fit-out developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess MEP design submissions, including:

  • HVAC, ventilation, and smoke extraction systems

  • Electrical power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, and low current systems

  • Fire & Life Safety systems in coordination with authority codes

  • Plumbing and drainage systems (where applicable)

• Ensure full compliance with:

  • DMCC and JLT fit-out guidelines

  • Dubai Civil Defence regulations

  • UAE building codes and relevant international standards

• Verify alignment between MEP designs, authority requirements, and approved master developer standards.

• Provide detailed technical comments, mark-ups, and formal compliance feedback.

• Approve or reject MEP design packages based on regulatory and technical compliance.

• Coordinate with MEP consultants, fit-out contractors, and project stakeholders.

• Review material submittals and technical specifications related to MEP systems.

• Ensure coordination between MEP designs and architectural/interior layouts.

• Maintain accurate records of design reviews, approvals, revisions, and compliance comments.

• Support site inspection teams by ensuring approved designs are compliant and buildable.

• Provide technical guidance to tenants and consultants during the design approval stage.

Technical Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.

• Minimum 5+ years of UAE experience in MEP design review, authority approvals, compliance, or consultancy roles.

• Strong knowledge of DMCC/JLT fit-out approval processes.

• Thorough understanding of Dubai Civil Defence regulations and UAE building codes.

• Proven experience reviewing MEP design packages for commercial, office, retail, or mixed-use projects.

• Ability to interpret detailed MEP drawings, schematics, specifications, and authority codes.

• Proficiency in MS Office and document control/design review systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with DMCC, JLT, or master developers.

• Background in authority approvals, design governance, or regulatory compliance roles.

• Fire & Life Safety, QA/QC, or MEP-related certifications (advantageous).

• Experience in commercial and retail fit-out developments.
