Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Deputy MLRO to join our Compliance team in Bahrain. The successful candidate will support the Head of Compliance in ensuring the company’s adherence to regulatory requirements, AML/CFT policies, and internal compliance procedures. This role requires CBB (Central Bank of Bahrain) approval before the official appointment and serves as a key compliance function within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Compliance in implementing and maintaining the board-approved compliance program to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain an effective AML/CFT communication and training program for employees and senior management.
- Conduct internal compliance monitoring to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Review and approve client due diligence (CDD) documentation in line with AML/CFT policies and procedures.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries and ensure timely reporting to authorities.
- Continuously monitor and enhance the AML/CFT program to improve its effectiveness.
- Stay updated on industry standards and international regulatory requirements, providing management with insights on necessary improvements.
- Ensure compliance training for all relevant staff and identify additional training needs.
- Handle compliance-related queries, including Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), and coordinate with the MLRO for further analysis and reporting.
- Assist in preparing annual compliance reports, AML/CFT presentations, and compliance MIS for senior management and the board.
- Support the Head of Compliance and MLRO in various compliance-related tasks and projects.
- Oversee the training and development of compliance department staff.
- Handle ad-hoc assignments delegated by the Head of Compliance.
Requirements:
- 2 to 3 years of experience in Compliance, AML, or Risk functions within a financial institution in Bahrain.
- Professional Certifications: CAMS, ICA Advanced Certification, Diploma, or equivalent (mandatory).
- Knowledge of Digital Assets is preferred.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, AML/CFT policies, and procedures.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and analytical tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive approach to staying updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices.
- Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and develop compliance staff.
