Role Overview

Chalhoub Group is the leading partner and creator of luxury experiences in the Middle East, delivering seamless omnichannel journeys across fashion, beauty, jewellery, watches, and lifestyle categories.

As part of the Group’s continued investment in data and digital capability, we are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and operate reliable, scalable data pipelines and data products. This role offers strong end-to-end ownership, from solution design through development, deployment, and optimisation, supporting analytics and decision-making across the business.

You will play a key role in shaping how data is ingested, transformed, and served across the organisation, working closely with analytics, product, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end data engineering solutions aligned with business objectives

• Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and delivery plans

• Build and maintain robust ingestion pipelines for diverse data sources, leveraging existing platforms and custom solutions where required

• Develop clean, performant, and secure Python code for ETL/ELT processes, automation, APIs, and data validation

• Orchestrate workflows using Google Cloud Platform services and associated tooling

• Transform and curate datasets for analytics and downstream consumption, including data marts and curated layers

• Optimise data warehouse performance through effective model design, partitioning, and clustering

• Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring to ensure reliable analytics outputs

• Collaborate using modern engineering practices including code reviews, Git workflows, CI/CD, and agile delivery

Candidate Profile

Must-Have Experience

• 3+ years’ experience building and operating production-grade data pipelines

• Advanced SQL skills with a strong understanding of analytics and dimensional modelling

• Strong Python expertise across ETL/ELT, APIs, scripting, and data validation

• Hands-on experience with at least three of the following:

  • BigQuery or a similar cloud-based MPP data warehouse

  • Google Cloud Platform or another major cloud provider (AWS/Azure)

  • Apache Airflow or a managed workflow orchestration service

  • ETL/ELT development and operationalisation

  • BI and data warehousing concepts

• Proven experience integrating data from multiple source types (APIs, databases, files, SaaS platforms, event streams)

• Experience implementing data quality controls, validation, and anomaly detection

• Ability to optimise SQL and pipeline performance for demanding analytics workloads

• Working knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, environment management, and configuration management

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with dbt (models, tests, documentation, macros)

• Familiarity with data lineage and governance tools (e.g. DataHub, OpenMetadata)

• Experience with pipeline monitoring and observability
