Construction Director – Solar
REN AMEA – GCC & Pak (ENGIE Group) Dubai , UAE

ENGIE Group is seeking a Construction Director – Solar to lead the execution of a 1,500 MW Solar PV project in Abu Dhabi. This senior-level, full-time on-site role offers a unique opportunity to drive the UAE’s renewable energy transition and support the nation’s 2050 sustainability goals. As part of ENGIE’s Business Unit for the AMEA region, the Construction Director will oversee the entire construction lifecycle—from planning and engineering to commissioning—ensuring adherence to high standards of health, safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead construction activities with priorities on health, safety, quality, and progress.

  • Advise the CEO on commercial issues and claims management.

  • Manage stakeholder relationships, including third parties, off-takers, contractors, and authorities.

  • Establish and lead the site team, ensuring project milestones are met within budget and timeline.

  • Oversee construction quality, scheduling, compliance, and reporting.

  • Ensure proper coordination during commissioning with the Load Dispatch Center and Off-taker.

  • Facilitate handover to O&M teams and ensure operational readiness.

  • Conduct technical design reviews, enforce HSE procedures, and represent the company during audits and site visits.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent in HSE leadership.

  • 10–15 years’ experience managing international projects of $500M+.

  • Proven success in leading large-scale renewable energy construction projects, especially solar PV.

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong knowledge in project management, contract management, budgeting, risk mitigation, and technical construction compliance.

  • Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, BIM, and project scheduling software.

  • Experience in the Middle East is a plus.

  • Internal: CEO, Project Board, ENGIE Senior Management, EXCOM.

  • External: Contractors, Off-takers, Local Authorities, Lender Technical Advisors, Vendors, and O&M Teams.
