Commissioning Manager – Gas Compression Project (Onshore) | Full-Time | UAE

A leading engineering company is seeking a Commissioning Manager to oversee the gas compression facility commissioning on an onshore project. This pivotal role requires managing the commissioning process from planning through execution, ensuring operational readiness, and leading a team in a safe, efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

Commissioning Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and manage the commissioning plan, schedules, and procedures for the gas compression facility.

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure commissioning requirements are met.

  • Ensure smooth transitions from construction to commissioning with clear handover protocols.

Execution and Supervision:

  • Lead commissioning activities for all systems including compression units, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Oversee system checks, loop testing, functional testing, and performance validation to ensure readiness.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning, working closely with relevant teams.

Team Leadership and Training:

  • Manage, mentor, and build a multidisciplinary commissioning team, including subcontractors and vendors.

  • Conduct training sessions to ensure effective handover to operations teams.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory standards during commissioning activities.

  • Foster a safety-first culture and address potential risks proactively.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed commissioning records, including test reports, punch lists, and handover certificates.

  • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, highlighting milestones and challenges.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities to meet contractual and statutory obligations.

  • Build strong working relationships and manage expectations with project stakeholders.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in commissioning, with at least 5 years in gas compression or similar onshore oil and gas projects.

  • Proven track record in managing commissioning activities for complex projects.

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of gas compression systems, rotating equipment, piping, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ASME, and IEC.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and stakeholder management.

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP, Commissioning Management Certification, or equivalent.

  • HSE certifications such as NEBOSH or OSHA.

Key Demographic Requirements:

  • Must be based in the UAE.
