Clinical Social Worker – Sheikh Khalifa Medical City
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) Abu Dhabi , UAE

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is seeking a Clinical Social Worker to join its team at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. The role is focused on providing psychosocial support and interventions to patients and their families, addressing emotional, financial, and environmental challenges that impact patient care and recovery. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that ensures patients receive holistic, safe, and timely care throughout their hospital journey.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct person-centered psychosocial assessments and develop individual care plans.

  • Coordinate social care services and collaborate with governmental or charitable agencies.

  • Provide crisis interventions, psychoeducation, and therapeutic interventions for patients and families.

  • Act as an advocate for patients in care planning, long-term care, and legal matters.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and complex discharge planning.

  • Assist in the processing of ER exempted cases and ensure treatment coverage.

  • Maintain accurate patient documentation in compliance with JCI standards.

Managerial & Supervisory:

  • Allocate workload across team members and supervise junior staff.

  • Support ongoing development and policy implementation within the department.

  • Promote anti-discriminatory practices and interdisciplinary cooperation.

Quality, Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures, infection control measures, and safety protocols.

  • Maintain confidentiality in line with professional and legal standards.

  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements.

Education & Development:

  • Deliver and participate in continuous education and training sessions.

  • Assist with orientation for new staff.

  • Engage in professional development through lectures, seminars, and online learning.


Qualifications:

  • Education: BSc in Social Work and Master’s degree in Social Work (both required).

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.

  • Skills:

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Ability to manage emotionally distressing situations.

    • Knowledge of social services and patient advocacy.

    • Competent in care planning, legal liaising, and psychosocial support.
