Clinical Social Worker – Sheikh Khalifa Medical City
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) Abu Dhabi , UAE

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), in collaboration with SEHA, is hiring a Clinical Social Worker for Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi. This role involves conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments, planning and implementing support strategies for patients and families, and contributing to multidisciplinary care and discharge planning. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of psychosocial care and strong coordination skills to work across various governmental and non-governmental agencies.


Key Responsibilities:

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop care plans

  • Provide crisis intervention and psychoeducation to patients and families

  • Advocate for patients’ needs and expressed wishes in planning long-term care

  • Coordinate care with external agencies (e.g., police, legal, charitable organizations)

  • Facilitate smooth patient discharges with the multidisciplinary team

  • Maintain detailed clinical records and ensure data confidentiality

  • Follow up on exempted ER cases to ensure proper treatment coverage

Managerial Duties:

  • Assist in daily workload allocation and staff supervision

  • Ensure junior staff comply with department policies and procedures

Interagency Collaboration:

  • Liaise with government, charitable, and other support organizations

  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and anti-discriminatory practice

Quality and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control protocols

  • Contribute to the development of service policies and SOPs

  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts

Education and Development:

  • Deliver and attend internal training sessions and seminars

  • Participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities

  • Engage in hospital committees and contribute to new employee orientation


Qualifications:

Education:

  • BSc in Social Work

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (mandatory)

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong assessment, advocacy, and communication skills

  • High emotional resilience and ability to work in distressing situations

  • Familiarity with local healthcare systems and discharge procedures

  • Proficiency in interdisciplinary teamwork and cultural sensitivity
