Role Overview
On behalf of our client in the Property & Real Estate sector, we are seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to take full ownership of mission-critical transactional systems.
This role is not focused on hands-on coding, but on architectural leadership, system reliability, security, and accountability. The CTO will be responsible for ensuring that all transactional platforms—covering payments, bookings, and state-driven workflows—operate accurately, securely, and consistently at scale.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in transactional architectures, understand real-world failure scenarios, and take ownership of production outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Architect, launch, and own transactional infrastructure, including payments, bookings, and system statuses
-
Design and govern state machines and event-driven architectures
-
Implement idempotent operations to prevent double charging and inconsistent system states
-
Integrate and manage payment providers, including webhooks, retries, and reconciliation workflows
-
Ensure end-to-end auditability and traceability across all system actions
-
Oversee system security, including access control, roles, secrets management, and permissions
-
Establish and manage production support processes, SLAs, incident response, and post-mortems
-
Provide technical leadership and accountability for system performance, resilience, and reliability

Proven experience with payment systems, webhooks, idempotency, and reconciliation

-
Ability to clearly articulate system states, failure recovery, retries, and delayed or duplicated events

Hands-on experience with RBAC, audit logging, and secrets management
-
Background working with financially or legally sensitive data
Production Ownership
-
Experience running live production systems with defined SLAs
-
Exposure to real production incidents and structured post-mortem processes
-
Strong ownership mindset with accountability for system outcomes
