Cafe Assistant / Customer Service Associate

Role Overview:
The Cafe Assistant / Customer Service Associate will maintain high hospitality and fresh counter standards in the retail and F&B environment. This role involves engaging with customers, ensuring quality service, supporting sales, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting in daily café operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain hospitality, fresh counter, and visual display standards throughout trading hours.

  • Implement ‘Clean As You Go’ principles for kit, counters, and seating areas.

  • Prepare and present products to customers focusing on quality, hygiene, and efficiency.

  • Engage customers with product knowledge, nutritional information, deals, and upselling opportunities.

  • Replenish products and manage stock, including bi-weekly counts and DEF (Date Expired Food) process.

  • Monitor cold chain, frozen temperature requirements, and ensure legal compliance in food handling.

  • Promote sales by educating customers about product differences, new products, and M&S offerings.

  • Ensure a safe working environment, adhere to H&S procedures, and maintain store equipment.


Required Skills & Attributes:

  • Friendly, engaging personality with good verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of F&B hygiene practices; relevant certification preferred.

  • Physically fit and able to stand for long hours and perform some heavy lifting.

  • Team player with excellent relationship and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to meet sales targets and provide excellent customer service.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • 4–5 years of experience in Food & Beverage (F&B) or retail environment.

  • Proven ability to achieve goals, maintain hygiene standards, and handle customer interactions effectively.
