MetLife Gulf is seeking a strategic and experienced AVP, Head of Government Relations to lead its advocacy and public affairs efforts across five key Gulf markets: UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Based in Dubai, this hybrid full-time role is instrumental in shaping and advancing MetLife’s public policy strategy in alignment with its business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of the Gulf’s regulatory landscape, with experience in stakeholder engagement, policy analysis, and relationship-building across government, regulatory, and industry channels.

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as a key advisor to EMEA Government Relations and Gulf business partners on relevant regulatory developments.

• Build and manage trusted relationships with government agencies, regulators, and trade associations across the Gulf region.

• Develop and implement a government relations strategy to support MetLife’s business goals.

• Monitor the political and regulatory landscape to identify risks and opportunities.

• Draft policy positions, responses, and advocacy materials; make representations on behalf of MetLife.

• Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk departments, as well as regional/global business lines.

• Represent MetLife in industry associations and stakeholder groups.

• Provide timely written and verbal analysis on legislative or regulatory developments.

• Coordinate across regions to manage the global implications of local issues.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in government relations, policy, or a related field.

• Deep understanding of political institutions and policymaking in the Gulf.

• Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in international relations, public policy, or a related field preferred.

• Prior experience in financial services is an advantage.

• Arabic language skills and experience working in the Gulf region strongly preferred.
