Assistant Underwriter

Barents Risk Management Limited is actively seeking a Treaty Underwriting Assistant to join its dynamic team based in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). This is a full-time, on-site position that plays an essential support role in the underwriting operations of the company’s Treaty portfolio.

The successful candidate will assist the Treaty Underwriter in managing underwriting documentation, analyzing risk data, supporting client and broker relationships, and performing essential administrative and compliance tasks. This position is suited for a motivated professional with a background in insurance or reinsurance, looking to develop their career within a global and growth-oriented organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage underwriting documentation and risk evaluations.

  • Ensure accurate input and maintenance of underwriting data and policy aggregates.

  • Coordinate with internal teams such as Claims and Finance to ensure data accuracy and reporting compliance.

  • Support client engagement by assisting with cedant and broker relationships through research and communication.

  • Prepare financial models, reports, and assist in business planning.

  • Contribute to internal documentation such as claims reviews, country risk analysis, and annual reports.

  • Perform tasks related to compliance, premium tracking, slip processing, and document organization.

  • Actively participate in meetings and maintain well-organized digital underwriting records.

  • Identify areas for process improvement within the underwriting workflow and support implementation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Familiarity with underwriting and data management systems.

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related discipline.

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in insurance or reinsurance, with a preference for treaty underwriting experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of underwriting principles and policy management.
