Job Description:
GEMS Education is seeking an Assistant Manager – School Facilities to join their operations team in May 2025. This full-time, on-site role works directly with the School Operations Manager and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of school maintenance, regulatory compliance, cleaning services, transport coordination, staff accommodation, and emergency response planning. The role ensures a safe, efficient, and inspiring learning environment aligned with GEMS’ standards and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of school facilities, ensuring safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee maintenance schedules for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, sanitation, and infrastructure systems.

  • Supervise school transport logistics in coordination with STS and internal teams.

  • Lead vendor and contractor management, procurement, and disposal of obsolete assets.

  • Support emergency preparedness including fire drills and health and safety protocols.

  • Manage cleaning operations, repair and refurbishment plans during academic breaks.

  • Handle staff housing and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Contribute to school improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical background or qualification in facilities management or related field.

  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar facilities or operations management role.

  • Strong leadership, multitasking, and communication skills.

  • Fluent in English with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Familiarity with local regulations and authorities (e.g., KHDA, Civil Defence) is an advantage.

  • Service-oriented, culturally aware, and team-focused.

  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and influence positive change.
