Assistant Manager – Contracts

DAMAC Properties is seeking an Assistant Manager – Contracts to manage and oversee all matters related to contract preparation and negotiation for various construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, consultancy agreements, and work orders, while ensuring the company’s interests are protected in all contractual matters. The role also involves assisting with tender evaluation, contract amendments, and providing contractual and commercial advice on project claims and variations.
Responsibilities:

  • Draft letters of acceptance, contracts, consultancy agreements, work orders, and Letters of Nominations (LONs) for construction work packages.

  • Review and modify contracts proposed by others, ensuring compliance with company standards.

  • Coordinate the preparation of tender and contract documentation.

  • Assist in contractual aspects during tender evaluations and negotiate terms with tenderers.

  • Prepare amendments and agreements to record changes in contracts or consultancy services agreements.

  • Periodically review standard contract documents and propose improvements to better protect the company’s interests.

  • Draft contractual correspondence and notices to support future claims.

  • Provide contractual and commercial advice related to project claims and variations.

  • Prepare risk schedules and summaries of terms for bespoke contracts.

  • Monitor and approve the work of Assistant Contracts Managers and Procurement Engineers.

  • Handle any troubleshooting assignments related to contractual matters as requested by other departments.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of contract drafting, negotiation, and review processes in construction or real estate projects.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure timely delivery of contractual documentation.

  • Attention to detail, particularly in reviewing contract amendments and risk schedules.

  • Experience in advising on project claims, variations, and managing contractual disputes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in contract management, preferably in construction or real estate.
