Job Title: Assistant IT Manager

Position Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant IT Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of all computer systems and data communication networks in the hotel. This role requires proactive planning, forecasting of technology upgrades, and execution of corporate IT strategies at the property level.

Key Responsibilities

System Management & Maintenance

  • Ensure the availability and functionality of critical hotel systems, including:
    • Front Office Property Management System (PMS)
    • Call Accounting System
    • Food & Beverage Point of Sale (POS) System
  • Provide effective support for other key systems, including:
    • Back-office applications
    • Sales and catering software
    • Marketing and Talent & Culture systems
  • Maintain system security procedures aligned with corporate policies.
  • Establish and enforce backup procedures to prevent data loss.
  • Keep accurate records of system files, software issues, and maintenance requirements.

Technology Upgrades & Implementation

  • Work with corporate IT to coordinate system updates, implementations, and upgrades.
  • Act as a liaison between the hotel, hardware/software suppliers, and corporate IT to ensure smooth integration and maintenance of technology solutions.
  • Assist various hotel departments in customized IT training for their operational needs.

IT Governance & Compliance

  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with corporate IT policies and industry standards.
  • Identify potential IT risks and issues and escalate concerns to corporate when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain supplier and product lists for IT-related procurement in coordination with the Purchasing Department.

Reporting & Collaboration

  • Regularly update corporate IT on the status of assigned projects and IT challenges.
  • Conduct annual meetings with corporate IT teams to review outstanding issues and propose new projects based on property needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Educational Background:

    • Degree in IT or Computer Science (preferred)
    • Diploma in IT (acceptable with relevant experience)
  • Experience:

    • 1-2 years of experience in a similar IT role within the hospitality industry.
    • Proven experience managing PMS, POS, and other hospitality IT systems.
  • Technical & Soft Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, system security, and data management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Ability to train and support non-technical staff in IT-related matters.
    • Strong coordination and vendor management skills.
