NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Summer Academy is seeking an Adjunct Specialist in Critical Thinking and Writing (CTW) to teach and oversee the academic aspects of the CTW course for Emirati high school students. This role involves lesson planning, instruction, grading, feedback, and participation in program-related activities to support an intensive 18-month university preparation program. The Specialist will teach two summer cohorts (Summer I and II), provide ongoing guidance, and contribute to a high-quality academic experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach the CTW course to two student sections (Classes of 2026 & 2027).

• Work within the existing CTW curriculum focused on reading, writing, and critical thinking.

• Develop students’ analytical, persuasive, and rhetorical writing skills.

• Identify logical fallacies, craft evidence-based arguments, and apply texts to real-world contexts.

• Attend pre-program meetings, training sessions, and faculty meetings.

• Supervise and coordinate with teaching assistants.

• Provide regular oral and written feedback to students.

• Submit detailed written feedback for incorporation into recommendation letters.

• Support co-curricular events, excursions, and evening activities.

• Ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for students.

Skills & Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in English or related field.

• Experience teaching high school or college-level English preferred.

• Demonstrated interest in cross-cultural education and teaching.

• Ability to supervise students in co-curricular settings.

• Availability to teach in Abu Dhabi during the summer session (approx. July 6 – August 7, 2026).

• Ability to provide some online instruction if needed.

• Strong communication, organizational, and student mentorship skills.
