Senior Accountant

We are seeking a qualified Senior Accountant on behalf of our client, an international logistics and freight company based in Dubai. This role will take ownership of core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance, while supporting management with accurate financial insights and controls.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, hands-on logistics industry experience, and solid knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with accounting standards and company policies

• Prepare and post accounting entries for assets, liabilities, income, and expenses

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial transactions

• Prepare monthly financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and petty cash reports

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and reconciliations

• Monitor accounts receivable ageing and track cash inflows

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations for all company accounts

• Support monthly and year-end closing processes

• Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support management decision-making

• Monitor cash flow, highlighting risks, variances, and improvement opportunities

• Ensure full compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax regulations, including filings and documentation

• Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits

• Produce accurate financial and management reports on a timely basis

• Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective actions or process improvements

• Review and enhance accounting systems, policies, and internal controls

• Develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen governance

• Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

• Handle ad-hoc accounting and reporting tasks as required

Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent)

• Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, with logistics, shipping, or freight forwarding experience strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles, and UAE tax regulations

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Sage 300, NetSuite, Oracle, or similar

• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure

• Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently

• High level of integrity with a strong commitment to confidentiality

Salary & Benefits

• AED 14,000 – 15,000 per month (inclusive of fixed allowances)
