Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Lead Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade AI systems for advanced robotic platforms. This is a highly hands-on role focused on local/on-prem Large Language Models (LLMs), orchestration software, and real-time system integration—bridging AI decision-making with physical robotic execution.

You will play a critical role in translating AI intelligence into real-world robotic actions, working closely with robotics, software, and systems engineering teams. The position combines deep technical execution with technical leadership and system ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage local/on-premises LLMs and AI-driven decision systems

• Build end-to-end AI orchestration pipelines, covering:
  Input → Decision → Output → Robotic Execution

• Implement AI logic that produces deterministic, actionable outputs for robotic systems

• Develop and maintain APIs, automation workflows, and system integrations

• Collaborate closely with robotics and hardware teams to integrate AI with physical platforms

• Own AI infrastructure, deployment pipelines, system connectivity, and operational reliability

• Optimise AI systems for performance, scalability, and real-time execution

• Lead, mentor, and technically guide engineers (for Lead-level scope) while remaining hands-on

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong programming expertise in Python and C++

• Proven hands-on experience with LLMs, preferably in local or on-prem deployment environments

• Experience working with robotics, automation, or cyber-physical systems

• Solid understanding of API design, system integration, and orchestration frameworks

• Experience deploying AI models into production environments

• Knowledge of decision-making systems, workflow automation, and execution pipelines

• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, product-driven engineering teams

Nice to Have

• Experience with robotics middleware, automation platforms, or real-time systems

• Exposure to hyper-automation, AI fusion architectures, or multi-agent systems

• Background in manufacturing, industrial automation, or robotics-led organisations
