Role Overview:
We are currently seeking a Marine Underwriter to join our Middle East operations based in Dubai. This hybrid role involves evaluating and underwriting new and renewal marine business with a focus on marine liability and other sub-lines. The successful candidate will operate within Zurich’s global underwriting framework and contribute to the company’s customer-centric approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently assess and underwrite marine risks including pricing, setting terms, and negotiating conditions.

• Handle both new business and renewals in alignment with Zurich’s underwriting guidelines.

• Prepare and present referral cases for approval as necessary.

• Manage servicing tasks, prepare policy documentation, and ensure systems are up to date.

• Maintain a solid understanding of account strategy in line with broader underwriting goals.

• Engage with distributors (brokers, agents) during the underwriting cycle and identify new business opportunities.

• Proactively resolve customer and broker queries, ensuring high levels of service.

• Work across marine insurance sub-lines including:

  • Marine Liability (e.g., SRLL, Port Liability, Marina Liability, FFL)

  • Cargo and Project Cargo

  • Fine Arts & Species

  • Jewellers Block

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in underwriting or a market-facing insurance role

• Sound knowledge of marine insurance and underwriting practices

• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities

• Familiarity with national and local insurance filing regulations

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and digital systems

• Ability to collaborate in team environments and handle pressure with a solution-oriented mindset
