Hays PLC is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support the migration of operational application databases from proprietary systems such as Oracle and SQL Server to open-source platforms including PostgreSQL and MySQL. This is a contract, on-site position based in Dubai. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and executing database migrations, optimizing performance, ensuring security, and providing ongoing operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead database migrations from Oracle and SQL Server to PostgreSQL and MySQL, ensuring performance optimization and system stability.

• Ensure compliance with Change Advisory Board (CAB) processes for all database releases.

• Implement and enforce database security protocols, including least privilege access, Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), and secure SSH connections.

• Design, monitor, and validate data replication processes across multiple business units to maintain data quality and integrity.

• Conduct daily health checks, manage patching and minor upgrades, and provide support for business and application database issues with minimal downtime.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database procedures, incidents, and collaborate with the architecture team to update design documentation on Confluence.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or a related field.

• Certifications such as PostgreSQL Professional Certification, EDB Professional Certification, Oracle Certified Professional – MySQL, RHCE/RHCSA, or MongoDB Associate DBA are highly preferred.

• 5–7 years of relevant experience in database administration, migration, and operational support.
