The American University of Sharjah (AUS) Library is seeking a dynamic and innovative Librarian for Information Literacy and Learning Initiatives. This position plays a critical role in advancing the library’s instructional mission by leading information literacy (IL) programming, collaborating with faculty to embed digital and academic literacies into coursework, and supporting student success—particularly during the first-year experience.

Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Public Services, the successful candidate will develop online learning resources, instructional content, and participate in outreach initiatives that align with the AUS Library’s teaching and learning strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, delivery, and continuous assessment of the course-integrated Information Literacy Program.

• Develop engaging, student-centered online learning tools such as instructional videos, research guides, and tutorials.

• Collaborate with faculty to integrate information, digital, and AI literacy into course content and assignments.

• Implement and support first-year outreach initiatives to boost academic engagement and student retention.

• Act as liaison librarian to assigned academic departments, including duties in instruction, collection development, and research support.

• Provide reference services to students and faculty, both in-person and virtually.

• Maintain active engagement in the regional and international library community to exchange best practices and advance sector leadership.

Required Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-accredited institution (or international equivalent).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in instruction and reference services within an academic library setting.

• Strong familiarity with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy and effective pedagogical approaches.

• Experience designing student-focused learning materials using digital technologies.

• Outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural academic environment.

• Demonstrated commitment to professional development and excellence in academic librarianship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certificate in Teaching, Instructional Practice, or similar.

• Previous experience in international academic libraries, ideally within an American-style higher education institution.
