Aldar Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate UAEN Social Worker for The Pearl British Academy in Abu Dhabi, commencing in June 2025. The Pearl British Academy offers a diverse learning environment, providing education for students from Nursery to Year 6, following the National Curriculum of England. The Social Worker will be responsible for enhancing students’ personal, social, and academic growth, providing guidance on social and behavior issues, and supporting students in developing life skills.

The ideal candidate will possess a genuine understanding of the region’s values, alongside the skills and expertise to support the social and emotional development of students.

Responsibilities:

Main Duties:

  • Help students enhance personal, social, and academic growth.

  • Monitor the progress of individual students and provide support where necessary.

  • Communicate with parents regarding student behavior and progress.

  • Prevent bullying and provide support for victims of bullying.

  • Assist students in developing job search skills, including resume writing and interview techniques.

  • Support students in dealing with social, behavioral, and personal challenges.

  • Provide preventive and developmental counseling to help students address problems before they escalate.

  • Offer services such as conflict resolution classes and assist in identifying cases of domestic abuse or family issues affecting students’ development.

Specific Duties:

Group Counseling:

  • Identify appropriate areas for intervention and regularly form and lead group counseling sessions.

  • Utilize both large and small groups to implement academic and behavioral interventions.

Career Counseling:

  • Coordinate with counselors to assist students with career exploration and selection.

  • Provide relevant information about career options and help students choose appropriate academic courses.

  • Maintain a career library/database for students to utilize in their career explorations.

Personal Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to address social development issues.

  • Monitor at-risk students and make referrals for external interventions in consultation with parents.

  • Be mindful of cultural influences on social development, particularly in adolescence.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science/Education in Social Work.

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in school counseling or other relevant counseling roles.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:

  • Appropriate license for student counseling.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with students and parents.

  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

  • High emotional and physical energy to handle complex student issues.

  • Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and remain resilient.

  • Commitment to professional development (CPD).

  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
