Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager, Underwriting is responsible for evaluating insurance applications, assessing medical risks, and ensuring product profitability for both individual and group business lines. The role also involves monitoring loss ratios, supporting policy development, mentoring junior staff, and liaising with reinsurers as needed.
Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate individual and group health insurance applications, focusing on medical risk factors.

Monitor and improve product loss ratios to ensure profitability.

Assist in creating and updating the Schedule of Benefits for both standard and customized offerings.

Ensure underwriting practices align with current policies and regulatory requirements.

Support operational efficiency by managing workflows and meeting turnaround time (TAT) targets.

Train and mentor new and junior underwriting staff.

Collaborate with senior underwriters and interact with reinsurers when required.
Qualifications:
-
Minimum 6 years of underwriting experience, preferably in health insurance.

At least 2 years in an Underwriting Executive or equivalent role.

Bachelor’s degree required; medical or master’s degree preferred.

Certifications such as CII, LOMA Underwriting 386, ALMI Level 1 required; DIP CII or advanced certification preferred.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong leadership and people management capabilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Solid understanding of health insurance concepts and risk evaluation.

Fluent in English; Arabic is a plus.

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
