Risk Business Partner (Dubai)

TP ICAP is seeking a Risk Business Partner to work closely with business units to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and financial risks. The role involves integrating risk management into strategic and change management initiatives and providing expert advice to ensure risk exposure is mitigated in a commercial manner. This position will also be responsible for delivering meaningful analysis and reporting to senior management and ensuring compliance with the risk framework and business continuity management requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Identification & Assessment:

    • Collaborate with business to identify and assess material risks from daily operations, emerging risks, and strategic initiatives.

    • Support the business in risk assessment activities like Risk and Control Self-Assessments, Scenario Analysis, and Root Cause Analysis.

    • Challenge assumptions and ensure thorough assessments.

  • Risk Appetite:

    • Define the Group’s risk appetite, including thresholds and key risk indicators (KRIs), ensuring it aligns with the business’s activity and risk profile.

    • Review the business risk profile and collaborate with teams to address risks outside appetite.

  • Strategic Risk & Change Management:

    • Partner with the business to manage risks that could impact long-term strategic objectives.

    • Assess risks related to strategic initiatives such as M&A, new product development, and new business ventures.

    • Ensure comprehensive understanding of risk profiles for new business activities.

  • Risk Mitigation & Management:

    • Ensure end-to-end risk profiles are actively managed.

    • Evaluate and challenge the adequacy of control and policy frameworks.

    • Collaborate to identify and address deficiencies in control and policy frameworks.

  • Risk Monitoring & Reporting:

    • Monitor and analyze risk appetite metrics, KRIs, and significant internal/external risks.

    • Provide updates and analysis to the Risk Leadership Team.

    • Participate in risk management meetings to provide an independent view of the business’s risk profile.

  • Events, Issues, Risk Acceptances & Policy Breaches:

    • Support the business in managing and mitigating significant events.

    • Provide quality assurance over events, issues, and policy breaches.

    • Lead deep dives into significant events to ensure adequacy of mitigants and controls.

  • Business Continuity Planning & Crisis Management:

    • Provide oversight on business continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.

    • Support the business in executing remediation plans during business continuity tests.

  • Training & Awareness:

    • Promote a risk-aware culture and conduct training sessions to enhance risk competency across the organization.

Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience in operational risk management in a financial institution.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.

  • Solid knowledge of financial services industry and regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of financial products, risk models, and operational risk management best practices.

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to adapt style to different audiences.

  • Good project management and organizational skills.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience in an Inter-Dealer Broker or Capital Markets environment.

  • Understanding of electronic and algorithmic trading (preferred).

  • Additional risk-related experience is a plus.
