NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Assistant to join Dr. David A. Scicchitano’s laboratory in the Division of Science. The role will focus on studying the mechanisms underlying genome maintenance, specifically in response to DNA damage. The ideal candidate will assist in research using techniques such as RNAseq, PCR, western analysis, proteomics, and metabolomics. A background in molecular biology and experience with DNA repair enzymes and laboratory techniques is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate the effect of DNA repair enzyme ablation on other DNA repair pathways.

• Conduct RNAseq and single-cell RNAseq to assess changes to the transcriptome.

• Perform PCR, western analysis, proteomics, and metabolomics experiments.

• Manage cell culture and utilize standard laboratory equipment.

• Work closely with Dr. Scicchitano on various genomic and transcriptomic research projects.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Master’s degree in biology preferred; a Bachelor’s degree with research project experience will also be considered.

• Knowledge of recombinant DNA techniques, molecular biology, SDS-PAGE, and RNAseq.

• Laboratory experience and familiarity with DNA repair processes.

• Experience with western blots is ideal.

• Strong research background with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
