Job Title: Safety Officer 

Job Description:

The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries on construction sites. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of UAE safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Implementation & Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive safety management system in compliance with UAE labor laws, Dubai Municipality regulations, and OSHAD requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Enforce safety procedures related to working at heights, confined spaces, excavation, heavy equipment operation, and electrical safety.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training.

Training & Awareness:

  • Conduct safety inductions and training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Ensure all personnel are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance and support to site supervisors and foremen.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

  • Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and submit them to relevant authorities and management.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and near misses.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Keep up to date with changes in safety regulations and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation.
  • Maintain safety-related documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work.

Emergency Response:

  • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills and exercises.
  • Ensure first aid and emergency equipment are available and maintained.

Liaison & Communication:

  • Act as a point of contact for all safety-related matters.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and subcontractors on safety issues.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry in the UAE.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE labor laws, Dubai Municipality regulations, and OSHAD requirements.
  • NEBOSH IGC or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in English (Arabic is an advantage).
